Can somebody decode my vin # it is *10CR122639*. The truck is a longbed 61 unibody. It now has a 2bbl 292 and a granny lo 4spd. I know that the tranny is not stock because I had to get the right floor pan piece and cut the floor to install it. I'm not sure if the engine is OE ether. Thanks Rich.

THe MD is used to refer to the engine as a Medium Duty. Our 1964 C-550 Rescue truck has a 330 MD Engine. Yes, a 330. The Brother to the FE, the FT!
I know they aren't really widely discussed, but they should be. OUr truck is 37 years old, and I believe it may have the original engine in it. Of course it has been in Volunteer Fire Service for a good while. But who really knows. I've found some really interesting things on this truck. Some things that even boggle the mind!
Like this. It has the correct 64 instrument cluster, and the correct original dash pad. But on the doors it has 67-72 style emblems! Try that one on for size. Ad it has the correct 64-66 custom cab script under the window. I think it's really interesting, and I'll get some more information on this truck. Especially since I am assigned to it!

I figured that's what the "MD" meant, just seemed kinda interesting that FOMOCO would feel the need to differentiate for anything other than an "HD"? If there is an "MD", I wonder if there is an "LD" (I guess that would be for just a weekend cruiser)?:-)
