Left Front End noise/vibration

Left Front End noise/vibration
I recently am noticing a vibration and a rubbing noise (for lack of a better description) from the front end. It usually happens when I accelerate from a stop. Especially if the wheel is turn to the left, but I have noticed it when turning right. It's musch like that of a transmission slip, but seems to be coming from the left front wheel. Any thoughts? I have a 2002 Explorer w/AWD and about 61K.

I've seen those cause that problem from the rear differential, especially during sharp "parking lot maneuvers", but always during acceleration.
Are you sure it's in the front? The clutches in the rear differential commonly go out on these (ford has an updated rear differential clutch set for this exact problem)

It's hard to tell. But I notice it when I back out of the driveway and put it into drive and as I turn left and accelerate I get this rubbing/vibration sensation that feels as it it is coming from the front left wheel. It comes and goes. I guess I'll monitor it for a while and see if there is any change. Thanks for your help. I'm keeping an eye, ear actually, on the rear end since I've been hearing awhine from the differential for a while now. I understand from the forum that it is the rear differential and axle that are suspect. Hopefully my Extended Service Plan will cover that when the time comes. Thanks again.
