tire/rim question
Is there any reason that a 2006 set of Lariat rims and tires would not fit an 03 excursion. Did they change the bolt patterns in 05? Just curious. A buddy of mine has a new 06 truck and put new rims/tires on it. has 21 miles on them. I can save a few dollars by putting them on my wife's X instead of buying new tires for her

I cant get a correct answer either. I believe the issue is with 4 by 4 only. I rolled into my uncles shop and we put on a set on my 2000 just for giggles, no probs. Remember there is the leaf spring and the coil spring. The ol leaf on our 4s are the problems while the newers went to coil 4s. So after all this babble I say ok and just go for it. Troy, oh and how was your trip?

So from that statement if you have the coils in the front like I do we are good to go. I dont have 4wd so I could put the newer wheels on too.

You can, but in my opinion it looks funny. Ever see those Ford Rangers where someone put Mustang rims on it? Same principle: bolt pattern lines up, but offset is different (it's just not as extreme difference with the 99-04 SD's and the 05-07 SD's as it is with Ranger vs. Mustang). It just looks funny to me, but then again, my wheels and tires stick out, so to each his own.

Troy,
Trip went well, got home all is fine. BUT we left kids and 5er hooked up boat and went to laughlin. Put boat in water and burned up impeller and housing. Got that all fixed and the next two days way too windy for fun on water. What a waste. Oh well all is back to normal now.
