I made some home made noodles two nights ago to go with the chicken and noodles I was cooking for dinner last night. I know I didn't not get the noodles thin enough to cook though, it took almost 1 hour to cook them...they ended up tasting like dumplings.
But the question is what can I use to roll them thiner other than going out and buying a rolling pin or pasta maker?
I tried using a glass but that didnt work.
Also have any of you found that you had to cook the noodles much longer than the recomened time even if they are thin enough?
Hi Sweetie,
Rolling pins are cheap. You can probably pick one up at the Dollar Store!
I love homemade noodles and make them quite a bit. Get yourself a rolling pin AND a pizza wheel. The pizza wheel makes cutting that noodle dough a breeze!
Yeh i have a pizza cutter and that was great! I've checked our dollar store and they dont have anything. I just really wanted to be cheap about it since we dont eat noodles that often. lol
you can get this stuff cheap at Benix stores. i don't know if they have them in the USA but they're all over Montreal. they sell just fancy kitchen stuff. but they're cheap.
the last episode i have w/ a rolling pin, Nan was making noodles and i almost ended with the damn thing embedded in the side of my head. i do not recall what i said, though it didn't matter, as most everything i said deserved a pin to the head. good luck w/ the noodles, just don't swing the damn rolling pin..
Even a hand crank pasta roller is cheap. Maybe I just got a really good deal on them (got one for my sister and one for me); they were about $30.00 each and well worth it. About 5 different thicknesses and two different width cutters.
Not sure how you'd do it without buying something... maybe hack a foot off the broomstick handle or the business end of the kid's baseball bat. In fact I've seen kids size T-ball & bat set for a few dollars at the variety store.
A regular rolling pin will roll them out thin enuf. My wife used to do it all the time b4 she picked up her pasta roller. They even make wooden rolling pins to cut the pasta in thin strips. A pizza cutter works well tho.

Good one Lenny When I read rolling pin , I also had the instant mental picture of my mom chasing my Dad around the kitchen with that old dough covered wooden roller pin . That was almost hmm, 50 years ago.
Yep, dual purpose utensil... Wally World and places like that will have them as well, thye don't cost much, and it's about like anything else, once you have it, you may find it gets used more... If nothing else, it works well for keeping the other half in line...
