speakers or unit?

Matt, is the stock HU that bad? I have the 6cd indash and the audiophile option (sub with amp) in my King Ranch and was just getting ready to drop $1600 for front and rear speakers (Boston Acoustic Pro 60's component fronts) and an amp. Was planning on waiting 2 more years till the HU was no longer under warranty for it to crap out then replace it. If I did a HU now, would it drive the stock audiophile amp/sub or would that need to be replaced with a real amp and subwoofer? Maybe it would be best to save up and do the whole system at one time?

any recomendations for speakers. brands... size... type. i know NOTHING about sound systems. i'm looking for something louder and cleaner/clearer than the stock POS. it's an 89 f150 reg cab. so all i have is the door speakers. thanks
