Mach 300 audio system

Just bought an 2005 escape with a Mach 300 6 disc in dash cahnger. Just removed the radio to investigate possibly installing an aftermarker MP3 CD player, and I found two plugs: One rectanguular which looks to be the standard power, ground and speakers harness, and another, small square plug. I'm getting conflicting reports to what this small plug actually is. One person tells me it is to a small amp that runs a subwoofer, and that simply not using it with the aftermarket radio will simply mean the subwoofer will not work. Another person tells me that theres is an onboard amp for all the speakers and that this small plug is the control for it, and that I need to bypass this amp before I install the aftermarket radio. Does someone have a wiring diagram, or can someone Please offer some knowlegable insight?
I will try to attach a picture to help

Same Thing

I am having the same sort of trouble as well. Accept I do not know how to take the radio out first. I know that in the back of the radio there should be a place to put a small device that will allow you to use the standard Y cable. I took my car to my local store to ask them for some help and they had everything I needed except the docking for the y cable was old. I have heard mixed comments about what to do. Many people say it cant be done, but my dad works for the manufacturer of this radio and he said I should be able to get an MP3 player hooked up but he doesnt know how.

This was not suppose to be a helpfull post, but to let people know of my problems.

EDIT I now know how to get it out. I looked at the back of the radio. It should be the small rectangular one in the middle closest to the white CD Changer. That is not for the sub or amp. That is prewired into the car. I have the same setup and I also have MTX subs and that is the only slot open. I will try to talk to someone at Visteon, the maker of the stereo about hooking up an MP3 player.

Thank you!

That is what I think you need. I dont think that is the actual picture of the piece. It goes into the middle port. The 16 pin port. They claim it works with the 2005 Escape. I am going to order one today and see. I will post when I have it installed.

I just got it a few days ago. It did not work with the SAT button. I called the company and I talked to a tech guy and he seemed to know alot about specific radios. He said you cant control the AUX Input with the AUX/CD button. He said he was releasing a unit in mid August that will use the SAT button for the AUX input.

That is the only company I found to have a kit for the 2005 models.
