I'll be darned if I can find two pieces to the stock horn button; the "contact plate" (large washer looking thing that fits over the cup, with hole in the middle for an insulating button), and the "insulating button". I'm puzzled too by Dennis C. selling a horn button wire "without contact button", for $10. Isn't that just a piece of wire about 4 ft long??? Mighty pricey copper!
Anyway, I've checked every source I know of, if you have one please let me know!
What you need are 7RC 3631 disc and FAB 14308-A wire assy. The wire is supposed to have the insulator. I found some NOS if you're interested.
Antique Auto Supply, Arlington Texas. 1-817-275-2381 ( both in stock )
Dennis Carpenter, 1-800-476-9653 ( has the disc in repo) 2673 pieces
Green Sales, Cici, Oh. 1-800-543-4959 ( has the wire ) 32 in stock
I found more if you're interested, PM me for the list. Call these places and ask by the part number and also price. I've dealt with Antique Auto and he's a nice person to deal with. He shipped me parts and I paid afterwards!
I really hate to add insult to injury, but I found a complete NOS horn button assembly in the glove box, along with points, condensor, bulbs, ignition ballast resistor, oil pressure guage installation kit, cowl to fender seals, drag link repair kit, I had no idea how much stuff you could cram into a glove box. My guess is that the original owner was planning to make some repairs when he pushed Bubs into the barn, and just never got around to it.
Let me know if you can't find one as I have a couple of extras, just pay for the mailing,
Also I believe that the wire does come with the insulator. Do you have the 3 pronged spring clip that goes into the cup? Anyway let me know if you still need one.
Thanks 5-Star! I do have the clip. Let me try a couple of these places, but I may take you up on those! Everytihing except the cup is brand new, so I'd just as soon finish it out with new parts if they're reasonable.
