2006 Mirror Conversion

Greetings,

I've searched this forum and could not find a consistent answer to this question:

Does the paddle mirror harness plug and play with tow mirrors and does the harness include turn signal wires?

My 2006 XLT F250 has powered paddle mirrors and I would like to convert to powered tow mirrors with turn signals.

Thanks in advance!

Rich

This may sound like a cheesy answer, but maybe try giving the parts dept at a Ford dealership a call. They should know the answer to that (but then again, you never know) I think the tow mirrors with the incorporated signals came out in 2003. My 2003 (Lariat) has it and my old 2001 (XLT) did not. Personally, I think the wire harness should have the signal wire in it, so that when a customer orders a truck with an upgrade (XLT-Lariat...) they just put on the tow mirrors instead of the paddle ones. Interesting question though.

I asked parts, they referred me to service, service "thought" that the paddle harness would not plug and play. Since I don't make decisions based on guesses, I thought I would give this place a try!

It wouldn't have been too hard for parts to look at the different mirror's images online and see at least if the connectors were the same, but again this place is faster and friendlier.

I checked the factory wiring diagram and it makes no seperation between power paddled mirrors and power door mirrors. Enclosed a picture of the connector pin out for the passenger side. Drivers side is the same. I would look at the pin out and if you have wiring going to the pin assignment for the turn signals, you should be good to go. Being an XLT, I would bet a cold beer you have the extra wiring already run.

Here is also a link to the power mirror schematic.

I switched from the paddles to tow on my 05. The wires were all there. The mirrors I installed didn't have turn lamps, but my truck is wired for them.
