I just bought a pair of tow mirrors today 4-7-14 for my '03 F-250. I currently have the "paddle" style installed. As you know, the paddles don't have any features except power glass, which I have. The new mirrors I got, are from the '05-'07 generation. They have turn signals and heat as well as power glass. They bolt right up, as they would. My connectors match, but the mirrors have a few extra wires.
I have no desire to custom fit a switch for the heat, so I'll clip that wire. But I gotta figure out which wires are the turn signals. Any help from somebody who has the wiring diagrams or who has done this swap before would be greatly appreciated.
Currently the new mirrors are off, as I am going through them to clean out window shards from the previous owner's accident. For some reason, I cannot attach any pics yet.
I just did mine. It's fairly simple, just time consuming as you have to make your own harness and run them through the door. They're already wires (I believe 3) that power your mirror and they're the same colors on the new mirrors. Aside from those wires, there is a ground wire, a power wire for the heat function and then 2 other wires per mirror that control the lights. One is park and one is signal. I ran the light wires up to the back of the head lights and spliced the appropriate trigger wire for the signals and park. Having several different colors of wire makes this job much more enjoyable. So if you only have a few colors, I'd recommenced stocking up on various colors. Some people talk about running a switch for the heat function, but I find that to be highly unnecessary as they draw very little power.
I found a wire diagram with pictures online when researching how to do mine. It was very helpful, but left out that the motors in the newer mirrors are reversed. Since I didn't know this until the install was complete, my left to right position switches are backwards however the up and down is regular. No big deal really. If you would like to PM me your email, I would be more than happy to scan and email you the diagram and photos I have from my install.
I'm pretty green here so If someone could show me how to upload a PDF file onto this thread (should that be an option), I can upload my findings in this thread in hopes to help others who might have the same question.
