HEY! Well i think i got my dad convinced on getting stacks on his 02 Superduty with the good ol' 7.3! Now just one question..... Where can i find em, LOL well here goes another one, are they hard to install yourself??
Im also able to get him a chip for it. Im not sure on what brand it is, but its my friends bosses and he said it gave his 7.3 enough power to pull a Cat Dozer 400 miles at 85 Miles per hour on the highway and they couldnt even feal it. This seams a little far fetched but he also said it was a 300 dollar chip and i can get it for 75 bucks. I already got the air box. And another thing.. If i get those stacks you know theres gotta be smoke comin out of em rite?? Will that chip and no muffler help it out any lol. Im sure all those Tree hugers and people who are big into our ozone will love this lol. But if you dont wanna read all this BS about me and the black smoke then here are my questions
Where do i get stacks perferably 6 inch??
Will that and the chip i might get make more black smoke??
Will the environmental People like it or not?? A hell who cares lol!
How do you install the chip?? Its not a tuner as you all know the difference.
that is about as cheap as they come, it's universal for dodge, chebby, and ford trucks. i wish i would have gotten mine there. since you are upgrading the exhaust, you probably want to buy a 4" downpipe and you can easily fit a piece of 4" pipe in between the downpipe and the stack elbow.
before the chip, need to get some gauges. i know you probably hate them because it doesnt make it louder or it doesn't add power, but if you are going to add a chip and obviously you love smoke, you will be getting some pretty high temps once you get the smoke rolling, very fast. a 4" downpipe will help with that some, but the gauges tell you when to get off the throttle.
with the chip, DP tuner as well as other sellers have special "smokeout" programs. before i ran biodiesel, my truck would chug coal on the 140 setting right off idle. now that im running Bio i can get some smoke before boost, but once i hit 10psi it's clear. you will want to have a torque converter lockup switch (puredieselpower.com) to lock the TC up manually, so you can lug the engine down to idle in second gear or first, and roll smoke right off idle. looks kind of like this:
I like the price but i dont like the curve, I was kinda looking for a diagnal cut. And yea i do agree with you on the guages. Wuts The bare amout of guages do i need, Or let me put it this way... Whats the Guages that are most needed? Im thinkin something about exhaust temps......PSI? And STROKIN IT, I saw those pics on your myspace. I love it! Thats the kind of tips im looking for only a little shorter. I like them almost flush with the cab corners.
HAHA your the king??? Ok you can be if u want. I originally went to this site because i had a 5.4 in my 02 superduty and it ran bad and it ended up bein a coil pack. So that day we traded it in for a diesel. That 5.4 was natorious in our school parking lot, lol it turned the old 305 tires like none other. Havent tryed it in the new one i dont wanna hurt it. I just wanna smoke everyone out lol.
look in the link i posted, they are for miter cuts like i have, however they will be the same height as what i have. look for Jtharvey's gallery, he wanted his lower too like you do, however he didnt want to cut his stacks. he mounted the splitter pipe a little into the bed. instead of cutting a 4" hole and setting the reducer on the bed surface, he cut a large hole and now the clamp that connects the left and right halves of the splitter together are bolted to the bedfloor, about 3" lower than mine.
for gauges, i would go with the standard three, transmission temp, boost (0-35) and EGT. while you are at Purediesel power look at his gauge selections too.
well, how hard do you want the install to be? there is alot of wiring to wire the gauges up, and you have to prime and paint the pillar cover where the gauges stick into. i myself hate wiring and its a nightmare to me, so i had Garrett install the gauges into a painted pillar and have them wired. so all i had to do was install the pod, hook into the 12v power for the electric, and then the dimmer wire (gauges dim with dash) and then tap into the boost location, and then drill and tap the exhaust manifold, and finally the transmission temp sender, which was to unscrew a plug in the side of the case and then screw in this sender and wire. yeah it can be time consuming, but i found it really fun and it was a "good time" hanging out with my truck. price for me was $400 for the wired and ready, however i have seen a "kit" for as low as $300.
