66F100s Rule
In the cool still quiet of night you can hear chevies rusting away.
The first digit in that body code ("F") is the interior trim code. The "81" is the body code. You will be hard pressed to find a 61-70? truck which has anything other than "81" for the body code. Ford actually had body codes for the Flareside, Styleside, stake rack and others, but never stamped anything other than the "81" on the tag. Go figure. By the way, the 81 translates simply to "conventional" body, whatever that means.

The conventional cab is the standard type cab like found on most pickups. COE or Cab-Over-Engine refers to the cab mounted high over the engine like you would see in the heavier trucks like a flat nose 18-wheeler.
Just thought I would help clarify that.

Model designation consists of two elements, a letter and a three or four-digit number. The letter designates the type of truck and the number indicates the size.
The above quote relates only to the model identification. If I rememer correctly, in the 66 manual, they listed the body codes but they are not in my 64 manual.
