I bought a pair of off road lights to use on the back of my truck below the bumper. got everthing wired un and NOTHING. I start to check over my work, and everthing is wired correctly. The relay works to turn the lights on if I put power to it straight from the battery, and if I wire the switch in between under the hood it works. Im using the same 12v key on as my gauges when I wired it under the dash, thats the only thing I can think for it to be, but my gauges work fine. What could it be?
Well thats what it has come down to, but theres NO WAY Im giving up on this. I just dont understand why it wont work. Id like to have it wired to the ignition so it would turn off when I take the key out, if I happen to forget to flip the switch myself.

Well I can't 't give specifics, but wire it in to the key on and be done with it. Use a meter to figure it out. You do have a meter right?? Without testing via a meter you're simply stabbing at it right?
You may want to check and make sure that the relay doesn't draw more amperage than the keyed wire is capable of doing with the guage lights on it too. If the amperage is to low for the relay, it won't work and a wire direct from the battery is basically unlimited until its fused.
I havent broke out the meter yet, because I thought I could just use the key on that I used for my gauges. Right not I have it wired right to the battery through the relay using some 10ga wire. Works fine now, when I not so mad ill get back under there and find the right wires. Maybe even wire it in so they can come on with my back up lights too. Thanks for the help.
