every once in a while the truck won't crank on the first try (in P) and then has to be put in N before cranking... Anyone heard of this?

Does trying it in neutral solve the problem EVERY time? I'd have said CPS first off if you hadn't mentioned the neutral thing. Still could be CPS...
How long has it been going on?

month or so... I have replaced the CPS (blue) before when the truck was stalling out (last April).
Yeah neutral has been sure fire... can't think of a single time it hasn't fired in N.

I can only think of Neutral Safety Switch but I don't really don't know.
I hope some other folks can stop by and offer their thoughts.

Maybe the neutral safety switch is all I can think of.
OT here, but did you figure out how long the hose needed to be for your homemade HPX? I haven't had time to open the hood on mine.

Hey this might be dumb but it happened to me , I had 1 bad battery ...the truck would crank ,a little slow but it turned over, wouldnt fire ... if the voltagle is too low in 1 battery that starter wont crank fast enough.

swapped both batteries this morning.... I can tell a very big difference in the sound of the crank... faster and higher pitched.
So far so good... we will see how this turns out... hope it works
