I would have agreed with you one year ago Eric, and then I installed the aforementioned setup and I was blown away. As I mentioned only three wires to deal with, built in retard and rev limiter with the Hi6s, I've used Mallory distrinutors for a while now and I haven't ever had a module go out, but you can usually find them pretty easily, all Mallory's take the same module. DUI's are a really dependable unit as well, I've never used one, but a fellow circle track racer runs them without any problems.

It all depends on your driveline, gears, terrain, and driving habits. I get 12MPG out of a worn out low compression 400 with a granny box, 3.07 axle, and hilly terrain.

My built 400 is still in break in, and its getting 14-15 mpg, which surprised me. I'm hoping for better, but I'll be happy with that. I have a set of 17" Procomp Xtreme wheels and 37" Cooper Discoverer STTs ready to go on, I'm sure the mileage will go down with those.
