hey all.....i have a 93 f350 rackbody dulley. it was sitting for a few months with the emergenct brake on....now the passeners side wheele is stuck i tried to get the cably loose by pullin and pushin it with channel locks...wont budge...i cant even move the truck. im gonna pull the wheels off. how do i go about gettin the drum off. i was gonna beat it with a hammer but figured there has to be an easier way. any help is appreciated. mike in NJ
Mikey, you really need to get the brake released before removing the drum. Get a can of PB Blaster (or a similiar penetrating oil), and soak the heck out of the cable and wheel mechanism. Remove the brake adjuster rubber grommet, and spray into the hole, pointing the hose in the direction of the parking brake mechanism.
After it soaks, grab the cable and move it around to work the rust loose. With any luck it will break loose. If all else fails, you might have to cut the cable housing close to the backing plate and release it that way.
