I have an 88 ford f150 that has the back wheel locked up.I had used the e brake and it seemed to release but there was a slight drag so I knew it was partial stuck.I touched my brakes then the back wheel locked up.How do I go about fixing it?
I took the tire off but now I don't know how to take it apart to see whats locked.I need advice.
Thanks in advance Russ
I've had this happen to me before. The cause on my truck was that the cables were badly rusted inside their sheaths. I didn't take my drums off when it happened, just got under there and kicked the cables to loosten them up. If you have the drums off the best I would suggest is to cut the cables right off and install new ones. That is only if you think the cables are junk.
Look under the driver's door and you should see the one cable from the pedal going thru the equalizer/tension limiter to the 2 cables for the rear wheels. If one of the rear cables appears slack, follow it to see which side it goes to. Then push the cable back into its sheath to release that brake and buy a replacement - they're only ~$20 for a lifetime one and easy to install. Look thru these pics.
