is there a way to transfer from vhs-c to dvd on my computer. a cable from my cam-corder JVC GR-SXM260 to my Presario 4410 w/ Windows XP. i've looked, but i keep getting bad reviews of products. i'm leaving it up to the smart people here for guidance. thank you
I did it and the picture was horrible. I thank god that I didn't just throw the vhs-c cassettes away. We would have lost a bunch of videos when my kids were really small.
How about getting a DVD recorder? At least that way you could being recording while doing other things The price on them has gotten a lot more reasonable lately. I have changed one VHS to DVD with mine, but haven't really had a chance to go back and check on the quality yet.
I have an ATI All-in-Wonder card, does pretty good. Do keep in mind that the quality of the souce material is just not there to produce a DVD quality picture. Also keep in mind that when handling video(audio along with) thru a PC, it consumes alot of the resources,
I think a TV Tuner card is what I'd purchase. It'll allow you to watch/record things onto your computer. From there, you can leave it on the hard drive for back-up. You can also burn it onto a DVD if you want. That's the route I went. Now I can record TV shows, etc on my computer.
I would go with an All In Wonder card. The one I have at the moment incorporates "video soap" to clean up picture quality and I think the results on sub-par quality video can be astonishing. YMMV. I also have a set top dvd recorder and while they are convenient, you don't get to clean up the video at all.
