camcorder to computer?

Is there a way to get videos from the VHS camcorder to the computer? I'm running WinXP. My digital camera has a built in video feature, but the quality is . . . well . . . bad. Any info is appreciated. I'm gonna dig out my computer manual to see if anything is in there, though I doubt it.

the only wat to get analog video into a computer(VHS video) is if your computer has an analog video input(most do not come with it you would of had to add it, or ordered it with it) you can buy one and add it to most compters. your dig camera uses a usb port to download video to your computer but most cameras only record in a low mepeg video quality. newer dig camcorders can hook up to a computer with a ieee1394 conection(also know as firewire). so if you know some that has a newer dig camcorder you can record your analog video into the dig camcorder than hook up the dig camcorder to your computer(providing your computer has a ieee1394 input)

Look up dazzle video editing equiptment. They have a thing you can use to plug the camcorder into the computer with. My friend has one, it works great.

I bought a "winTV" card for $50 a few years ago. Basically is a box with a analog input on one end and a USB cable on the other. I have plugged VCR's and cam corders into in many times. there are a few tricks and some software that makes things easier but it works pretty well.

I used a similar device to that for a home movie project i made recently. It's called a Video Capture Unit. It has video inputs from analog source on the back and goes into the computer via USB or IEEE 1394. I plugged in a VCR to it and stuck in old home movie VHS tapes, and used a program i downloaded for free that captures the video. I think it was called Videofactory or Videomagic. Good luck with it anyway...
