Is there a way to pull the codes off of a 2002 Explorer (SOHC) w/o using a scan tool? I dont have a manual and the truck turns over but wont start. Would like to pull the codes so I have a place to start.
Can't help with pulling the codes, but if you turn the key to the ON position, you should hear the fuel pump prime for a second or 2. If not, you have a fuel problem. Start with the fuel pump relay.
I can hear the pump whine. Today she said then when she tried to styart it yesterday she heard a loud clunk and then it wouldnt start, just cranked over. I blew out the MAF sensor and let it sit for a bit. Then I cranked it over with the throttle to the floor and if started up like it had flooded.
I would go ahead and buy a scan tool if you have a Check Engine Light. It will save you money in the future. If it's not urgent, you can get a cheap one on eBay for less than $30.
Of course, if you can start it now (and you're sure you can start it again), take it up to Autozone or whatever you have locally and they should be able to pull the codes for you.

When you hold the thottle all the way down and crank it over, the PCM does not open the injectors. This is the procedure for starting a flooded engine. It is an engineered solution that is not listed in the owners manual.
