Cold engine = Bad performance.
My 94 w/302 and fresh transmission has been having a problem where when I first start the truck and drive, I get sluggish power.
Then it seems like after about 30-60 seconds of taking it easy out of the neighborhood, the truck wakes up, like the engine temp goes more to normal and the truck drives 100% fine, no problems at all.
As far as I can tell fuel system seems good, fuel filter is new, gas is good, fuel pump seems to work fine. Its as if the the engine is encountering resistance. Not so sure though.
Could a bad thermostat cause these symptoms? acting like a blockage in the cooling system?
I have a slight exhaust leak near the Y pipe, and when it goes through the 1 minute of cold running lazyness, the exhaust leak gets alot louder. Could this be a clue?

I have not replaced it, but I have cleaned the hell out of it.
It still gives me fluctuating idle every once and a while, cold engine or hot engine..
Do you think this could be a probable cause of the poor cold engine performance?
