Perhaps just a coincidence, but i had an oil change coupon from the local dealer here which I am not fond of. Took the truck in for an oil change and after getting it back, noticed it runs like crap cold. Truck is a 2006 6.0 with 105K miles, been running sweet lately too!
Starts fine, but if you go to press the accellerator in park up to about 200 rpm there is a pretty good vibration and RPM fluctuation. If you go to drive, there is a good vibration and engine "shudder" as the truck goes through the gears. Almost like a front end problem, but only at shift points and seems definately from the engine.
I've cleaned the EGR which wasn't that bad. What now? Any ideas? Fuel filter hasn't been changed for about 20K, could that be part of it? Any he;lp is appreciated! I have Ford Diesel Care Extended warranty until 200K/Next September, but It's for major stuff only. THanks for the help.

Classic case of the wrong viscosity oil. Sounds like they put in 10w or 15w, you really need 5w in the winter or year round for that matter. I'd take it back and have them put in the right oil, then never go back.

It's possible they used wrong viscosity/weight of oil if your in a cold part of the world. It stops shuddering once the engine warms up right? I would for sure get those fuel filters changed, they're way overdue.
(PS looks like High Binder was replying at the same time I was.)
It's still possible the oil is too heavy, but concidering y'all don't see below freezing it won't be as rough on your engine as say someone in Montana.
I assume you paid good money to have the oil changed so definitely make an issue of it.. Also, if they don't get feedback then they can't learn from their mistakes.
