differences between a 7.3PS and 7.3IDI

How does the early 7.3PS differ from the 7.3IDI?

If I've read correctly the IDI is mechanically injected with a rotary injection pump, while the PS uses oil pressure to pressurize the diesel and then fires electronic injectors when the PCM says so. The IDI has external fuel lines and the PS has passages in the head.

The bore and stroke are the same, but are the engine's internals, or the block itself?

block on the psd has piston cooling jets other than that there the same.

then everything else on the rest of the motor is differnt. psd way more power, more reliable, cleaner emmisions, more fun to drive!!

Piston cooling jets? As in an oil jet in the block directed at the pistons?

Also, are the cylinder walls as thin on the 7.3PS as on the 7.3IDI?

Got that, thanks. I was hoping for a little more detail on what was different, like: do cams, cranks, rods, pistons, or the block itself interchange.

How many quarts of coolant do the 7.3PS system hold?
Can you adjust the idle speed? How?
What kind of lifters are used?
