Where should I start checking to track down my dead running light. Its the passenger side rear. Brake lights work, all the other lights work, just that one running light. Is it as simple as a bulb?
The cop who informed me that it was out, was kind enough to let me go with a warning. Pshew.
And while we're at it, where is a good place to order new brake light lenses for my '64 F-100?
Johnathan your best bet it to remove the bulb and look at it. Not a big deal. Chances are you can get the bulb at any auto parts store. I know I should be struck down for refering to a local store instead of the online one. I don't see the point in waiting a week for a light bulb. LOL
I had a similar problem with the right rear signal and park light. It seems the turn signal swith in the column was the culprit. There are 2 metal rods that make the contacts for the signals and the parklights. The front and rears operate independantly if I'm not mistaken. (I believe if a rear bulb is out, the front will still blink and visa versa?) I ended up getting a replacement from the HELP! card section of Autozone. But it was for a 67 and up car or truck and wouldn't fit. I salvaged the metal rods and bolted them in and my problem went away.
I would suggest you pull the steering wheel and check the contacts on the signal cam.
