I have a 65 f100 2wd with a 351w and i got a power steering box from a 74 f100 2wd. The problem is the box hits the spring tower about an inch before it is tight against the frame. Did ford make different gear boxes?
Jon, It shouldn't, I have a 76 gear on two of my 66 chassis. The top of the gear will hit the engine perch for a FE and I6. The FE perch for power steering is angled forward. I don't understand why it is hitting on yours.

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
Can you post a pic of it hitting the spring tower? Something is definitely wrong, because the power steering gearbox (called a sector) should go inside the frame, and the spring tower is outside the frame, inside the fender well.
I can see how the upper body of the sector might hit the shock tower (which is part of the spring tower), but still it should fit. The frame and I-beam dimensions are the same 65 -78.
I pulled the gearbox from the truck at a junkyard. The front of the box is hitting the tower. I noticed its about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch gap between the box and the frame.
