7.3 IDI chip??
I got to talking to a friend of mine and he informed me that there is a chip that I can get for my 1991 F250 7.3 IDI. Of course I was skeptical but he opened up the wyotech book and showed me the thing... I was also told a dealership should be able to get me one. I went to the dealership and they said they would have to look into it. About a week later I was quoted $500 for the thing. I talked to another dealership and they didn't know what I was talking about...
Anyone else ever heard of this chip?

well, since the 91 7.3 IDI is not computer controlled, i can not figure out what a chip would do except make your wallet $500 lighter.
if you have the E4OD trans, it is electrically controlled, but even then, the computer chip is for trans shift points, not engine control

yeh, what TJ said . NO chip for the idi engines. If they show you a box, it is for controlling the shift points of the e40d transmission. The idi's are all manual control and the power strokes are fly by wire.
