05' 7.3?

Was at the beach fishing this weekend and while at a convienence store a guy pulls up in an F350 slightly lifted with dual exhaust. It had the 6oh powerstroke door badges and sounded like a 7.3 so I figured he just bought new badges. So I decided to strike up a conversation and ask him if he was running a chip and he said yes, a bully dog, and was getting about 22mpg. I just smiled. He was in a hurry and didnt want to talk truck so I left it at that. The truck appeared to be an 02'-03'. He says its an 05' that he special ordered with a 7.3 and that he just ordered two 09' models with the 7.3, by the way he was a landscape contractor. 1. The truck didnt have an 05' front end. 2. I havent read anything on here about getting a 7.3 in any F-series truck after the 03' models.

I call BULLCHIT on this one. Anybody know anything about this? Educate me if I'm wrong.

He probably didn't know what he had, only that it was a diesel and a Ford.

So many people believe the sales man, why? The only salesman I would ever trust would be a tech, they work on em, and know them, and if they don't they should not be back there.

He said it had an 02-04 front end. I would say the guy is completly clueless and is just going on what the dealer told him(though I find that hard to believe) UNLESS he was pulling your chain or got a 7.3 from out of the country.

I'll be there next week, for a week, I'll try to look for him although I don't want to **** off a local (people have been known to disappear off the island, never to be seen again), I will educate him if I see him.

The 7.3 was abandoned in the US to meet federal emissions requirements. The 6.0 was changed for the same reason. The 7.3 was available after 2003 if the truck was bought outside the US, but being a contractor, or even having a fleet account with Ford will not get you a 7.3 in a 250/350 any later than the 03 model year.

I can buy new trucks at the X-plan price through a contractor program, and if the 7.3 was available, I wouldn't have any 6.0's. I even switched to buying used to avoid the poor mileage and lack of access on the 6.4.

You're original assessment about cow excrement is correct.
