Anything to stop the rust?

As Bronco lovers, I’d bet there are a lot of rust haters in here. I would love to fix my 89 Bronco up a little better than the extremely bandaged state it is currently in, but I am not sure how much time I have before the thing crashes to the ground. Does anyone know of anything that I can paint or spray under the truck that will stop the rot from continuing, or should I just start preparing myself for having to part with this vehicle?

I used POR-15 inside the tailgate about a year ago. Followed the instructions exactly. So far, so good.

Rust is hard to stop once it's got a hold of the truck.
If it's rusty bad just drive it.
Your in MASSACHUSETTS so my guess is bad rust.
Make sure were the seat belt bolts to the floor stays solid or you might turn into a missle.

mbgts; go to Kanolabs.com, look for Exrust. Then clean as much of the rust off as you can, check and make sure you have no structural damage (frame, mounting bolts, etc. repair as needed) then spray or wipe Exrust on everything. It will disolve all of the rust and grease, just follow the directions. Then have the underside painted or undercoated to prevent the rust from coming back. We have used it on tractors, loaders, trailers, trucks, etc. and it does a good job. Also Kano Labs has a "Money Back Gaurantee" If it does not work like you think it should, they will refund your money. We have been satisfied with all of their products that we have used.

Good Luck.

andy, cally is moving here, once the globla warning gets going. I do probably have a few more years of salt before that hapens though. the rust is pretty bad, but i am not woried about its structral integredy at this moment. i also dont care that much about patching the body rot. (eventually ill have a fiberglass bronco) i think if i can stop the frame rot from getting any worse it should hold. maybe exrust folowed by a coat of por-15?

POR 15 loves bare metal and rust. It actually bonds better to them than a smooth surface.
Other than that, go off roading, make sure a wash everything under there. Near the back tail gate, up under the wheel wells, everything. If you live around icy salty roads, make sure a try and wash the salt off at least once a week or after they just laid the salt down.

I guess I should have said, "Move someplace where vehicles don't rust", but somehow that doesn't have quite the same ring to it.

Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, anywhere in the south would work too.

How does that work? Just buy fiberglass body panels instead of the regular ones? Just curious.

I don't think they make fiberglass panels for trucks. In Mass they will fail you on inspection if you have rust holes in the vehicle. since I dont have a welder (need to learn on of these days), I just get some fiberglass mat & resin and patch away. if i had more time, I could make it look good, but at least it passed inspection. at this piont the bottom section of both doors and the edges around the tires are more patch than metal. too bad I cant do that with the frame!
