Air Filter Slipped Off?

Alright guys, I put the NAPA 6637 air filter on my truck about 2 weeks ago. I used the stock air tube and clamp. The truck has been running excellent lately. Very smooth, and I can hear the whoosh sound from the filter. I checked everything out about a week ago, and the filter still seemed to fit great, nice and tightly sealed. Then today I looked at it again and saw that it had slipped off. Evidently, I've been riding without a air filter for the last 2-4 days! I havn't driven off road at all, just street driving. I put the filter back on today, exept I put screws into the filter/tube, along with the clamp so it won't happen again, although I'll now have to check it frequently for self concious reasons.

Anyway, could this have significantly hurt my truck? There was a bit of clump where the oil is at in the air tube, before the turbo. I cleaned it all out. But, still is there anything I should do after what happened, or do I have nothing to worry about?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That's probably the biggest problem with the homemade tymar, the filter sometimes pops off. Nothing you can do about it now except make sure it doesn't happen again. Depending on how long you think you ran with no filter, an oil change might be in order.

Nothing I can think of. What happened, if anything, has happened. Do you not have a piece of 4" pipe to mate the filter to the intake tube? Whatever the case, keep it on there and keep it tight/sealed.

Man you must have streched that sucker hard! I had to use a piece of 4" pipe to fit the factory pipe and the filter. I think you just need a jointer pipe.

I wouldn't unless it was time based on what you said. Anything that got there, if anything, has likely done it's damage, which could be nothing to minor anyway. Anything else is in the filter. Now I can't wait for the purists with the bypass filters to flame me on that one but the stock filter should take care of you in this instance. The pypass systems are another animal all together.

I'm not a bypass filter purist, but I would change it if it were my pickup. Remember the oil that operates your injectors doesn't get a filter pass before it is sent to the HPOP. JMO

Change the oil cause that is always a good thing to do but you can also take a look at your compressor wheel. Just take your intake off at the compressor housing and look at the compressor wheel. If it looks "dusted" the wheel blades rounded off not sharp or bent fins that calls for further looking into new compressor wheel ect. If it still looks sharp and clean put you intake back on and your good to go.
