Air Conditioning air direction

Monday, I got in my 2001 PSD Limited EX and I turned the air on MAX. It blew the air like it was on defrost. I slapped the dash and it started to blow out the vents. I have thought for a long time that something might be wrong because it feels like hot air blows on my feet when I have it set on Normal, so if anybody has any ideas, in the words or ROss Perot, "I'm all ears!"

I had a similar experience a couple months ago but with my boss' Suburban. Was up north at the cottage and the drivers side pumped out cold air, while the passenger side blew out hot. It had automatic dual zone controls but after turning them on and off several times it corrected. Never happened again.

might be a vac leak in your system. Is it a diesel?

Yes it is a diesel! Can you tell me where to look for the problem.

Thanks,

John

Mine had the same issues last weekend. I found that the vac line going to my heater hose shut off valve had come off. Might try that. If that's not it double check all the vac connections on the pump, cannister, ect..

Thanks for the suggestion! I thought I was going to melt this afternoon. Air would only blow out of the defrost vent. At least the window was nice and cool!

should be in one of the heater hose lines going to the firewall. Look where the intercooler tube attatches to your turbo on the passenger side. Look directly behind the tube and you should see it. Just look for a little round can with a vaccume line going to it. Mine is black.
