I got my truck tuned today by Matt, and boy does it run fast, but burys the EGT's only after a couple seconds it shoots to about 1600. What could be my problem? Ohh and this is Ross' brother and I have a 4" silverline with the silverline muffler, ross thinks its the muffler causing the heat, also the turbo screams when you jump on it, and squeaks when you first the truck. Please help and any advise will be appreciated!
Watch your boost pressures first. See if you're making enough air. If you have good numbers(at least 20PSI, more would be better), then try staying in it a little longer to see if temps come back down.
During a 1/4 mile pass, I'll nail it and the EGT's skyrocket. By half track they will drop to more reasonable levels.
im too afraid to poor the wood to it much longer because by 3rd gear is it at 1550 and still climbing. boost levels are good just has a slight squeek when you have a cold start up
Your experience is similar to mine. What tune are you running? Just got to control the go pedal. Below is a link to some data I posted in another thread. This might be helpful.
yea but if i want to run WOT from 0-90 i wanna run it and not have to back out if you know what i mean. my brothers truck max's out at 1400 and his is a dually which is the one in the signature. and its the same SLR+
A few seconds at 14-1600 isn't going to hurt you but you just don't want to sustain it. EGT's are an air/fuel related thing. To bring down EGT's you have to introduce more air or take out fuel.
o its way more than a few seconds. it keeps climbing past 1600. so would the turbo not be getting the motor enough air? or not letting it out fast enough
Your muffler isn't that restrictive. Turbo and/or I/C problem are most likely.
When you see 1250 stock, is that under acceleration, or cruising? I know I can't get 1250* unloaded with stock tuning. Stock unloaded cruising EGT's are generally +/-100* of MPH x 10(ie:700*@70MPH).
