Around 95cc but always check. You will need to deck the block down a lot if you want to use a stock style piston. The '88-'93 FI pistons have a small dish and with the D3 heads you would be a little under 9.5:1. You are going to have to get it balanced too.
Well the motor was bought from a local machine shop!!
I mean its brand new
I don't know how much was taken off the block nor the cylinder heads but prob jus tru'd up.
Truck rods have been reconditioned,New 40.over stock style pistons. Block
Heads, crank all rebuilt so I am at a lost with deck height etcit is a d9 block,d3 heads, I have the sheet with everything done to the motor but not measurements etc..
Thank but I am new to big block Ford's
I wanna spend my hard earned cash the correct way that's all..
I have been reading post an it only gets me more undecided on my combo..
The motor is brand new. Bought it from a local machine shop!
It's a d9 block,d3 heads. It has an overbore of 40.
Heads completely rebuilt, block has been line honed, surfaced along with the heads.
So I am guessing jus tru'd up. I don't know deck height measurement etc etc.
I have a sheet that states the actual work done a cost, but nothing including how much was taken off block nor heads. Crank has been ground, 10/10 truck rods reconditioned.
This is my first big block ford so I am so lost.
I have been reading so many post I have change my mind on which way to go so many times I stopped counting.
Jus wanna spend my pennies the correct way.
Looking for 375-400 hp
well figure out exactly what pistons you have and what the dish is. test fit pistons into the block and measure the piston to deck height. If .010 or more have it decked to bring it into that range (Make sure and do this with whatever piston you decide to go with)
A set of flat tops will put you under 10:1 with the D3's , but make sure it's zero decked and has a .041 gasket for good quench. Probably a good idea to add a small cam to kill just a tad of compression.
I have ran this combo a bunch with no problems on pump gas.
