I found a listing in the classifieds for a 302 police interceptor motor for $200. I'm trying to find out what year it is, and what shape. Anybody have any info on these?
The 5.0 in a cop car is the same as any other 5.0 HO. It might have an oil cooler too. I wouldn't want a motor run by a police dept. It probably has 200,000 miles plus 20 years woth of idling at a doughnut shop.
fuel injected 302 police interceptors aren't much better than stock, if at all. Ive got two here at the house and didn't think they ran all that great compared to any other.
And if they were rebuilt? I was looking at spending around $800 for an engine, this is $200, so if I spent $600 or so in parts? Or should I just look for myself a different 5.0?
I tend to not trust someone else's rebuild. I would if I personally knew them I might and judge from there. Personally I look for a low mileage stocker and go from there.
I was talking about getting the stuff and taking it to a reputable engine shop here. But I think I'm going to skip over this one and look for a better one.
