Hey guys I have a 1993 302 roller motor with E7TE heads a lunati Cam with .512 lift on the intake and I can't recall the exhaust side but it's around .49X?
I want to put this engine in my 64 f100. I'll be using a holley 600 on top of a Offenhouser dual plane manifold. I'll be using long tri-Y headers to a pair of glass packs for exhaust. All this mated up to a WC T5.
Will I have any problems using a Carb on this engine?
Is a 600 CFM carb enough for this engine?
Should I port the E7TE heads for power Or will it kill my torque?
Scottie, I'm glad you brought that up. I'm dressing this engine to look like a plain jane 60's 289 so I want to use an old 60's distributor with a pertronix ignitor. Will an old distributor bolt right on or will I need to change the drive gear?
stinkfist, the distributor should drop in as scottie says. I did the same as he did and there were no issues with the distributor size. However you stated you are using a roller 302 engine which should use a bronze gear. They said that if you use the older style cast gear with the hardened roller cam you will chew up the gear. If you plan to swap your 93 distributor gear to your earlier 64 distributor, check the O.D. of both distributor shafts as some aren't the same I.D. (.531 and .456 I think).
Don't use a bronze gear. They were designed for race cars that get torn down regularly. It will wear out quickly. You can get a steel gear for the older distributor. You just need to measure the shaft size of the distributor you want to use. Ford racing carries most sizes.
