Ok I see alot of people talking about a 302, and a 302 HO? What is the difference and how do I know what 302 I have? I have a 1977 F-100 with a 3 speed manual Tranny.
A real quick way to tell the difference is the firing order. A 5.0L HO has the same firing order as a 351W 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8. The std. 302 firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8.
ok well mine had 2bbl carb and a damn heavy intake... deffinitly not aluminum. I am building my 302 up at the moment and almost got everything back together (new carb and intake) and am going to put all of the plug wires on today and fire her up... hopefully. befor I did all of this I thought I might have had some problems with my carb, I took off the carb and plugs and cap and rotor and wires, replaced the cap, rotor, plugs and wires, and being dumb forgot to mark the wires! so i looked in my manual and put them in the order it said for the standard 302 and it wouldnt start.... so I didnt quite know what was worng, I am going to go try it today tho. So ill update tomarrow.! thanks
