Does anyone have a 1953-56 truck with an original windshield washer setup? I have never seen one on a truck and wondered if anyone else has? I got a pump unit and have seen the bottles show up on E-Bay every now and then. I don't know if I will ever use it, but I'm curious about them. Anyone have knowledge or pictures of them? Thanks
My '53 had it, but I shaved it during the body work. I do remember that the "squirter-nozzle" was right in the middle of the hood, on the ridge, near the cowl area. I shaved alot on my truck, I don't even have door handles
There is a guy on ebay selling the window washer unit right now. His ebay name is dearborn (sp may be wrong).
53- With all that shaving you did, what razor do you recommend? LOL...

Here is another option. Get the nozzle that goes in the middle of the hood, these same nozzles were used on Ford passenger cars of the same era. Go to the junk yard and get a reservoir from a 73 to 79 Ford pick up. It will have the pump motor in the bottom of the reservoir, run your hoses and wire the little bugger and your in business and it will be a lot better than the original set up. Of course if you are keeping your truck original you would want the original type of equipment.
Were the originals electric, vacuum, or manual? I had a 1959 Ranchero and the washer set up was a plastic bag that hung on the inner fender. There was a small foot pedal on the floor to the left of the steering column. You had to pump the foot pedal a time or two to make it squirt.
I've also seen the vacuum jar style.
My 64 Falcon Sprint had the bag and foot pump. I also had a 57 Ford that had the bag and foot pump and when you pressed the pump pedal it not only washed the windshield but also activated the wipers as long as you had your foot on it.
Wow, thats cool. The 59 Ranchero had vacuum wipers when I first got it. I had a 59 Ford Galaxie parts car that had electric wipers so naturally I changed them over. The electric wipers were a little odd also. The mtor was electric and mounted outside on the firewall. The switch was cable operated. There was a cable that went under the dash to a **** that activated a slider switch on the motor. This being the weakest link, was busted beyond repair. I wired up a later model switch and wired it directly to the motor unit and tossed the cable assymbly away.
