I hate to do it but my original windshield washer tank has a hole in it and the motor is out. Has anyone used a Universal Windshield Washer Kit and liked it? I need something to get me through the winter, have been driving my truck for the last few years without washer fluid and have needed it pretty bad in some situations.
Thanks!
If you don't turn up much luck going that route, the pump is pretty cheap and easy to find. You might be able to patch the tank with JB Weld. I successfully patched a lawn mower gas tank with that stuff; not sure why it wouldn't withstand washer fluid. This is the route I would go, personally.
you can go pick up a later 80-96 ford truck washer tank, it uses the same motor and you get a coolant catch too, it'll fit on the flat spot on the driver fenderwell too.

I second this, I did this in all the trucks I own and have owned.
get one out of a 80's or 90's bronco
even the plug is the same. just extend the wires a little.
plus now you will have an over flow catch for your radiator.
the reason for the rubber strap was because the tabs to mount it were all broken off.
I saw a rig with a ten gallon sprayer plumb in. It cleared mud and more from the windshield. This is what I plan on doing soon. Est cost about a hundred. But worth it after seeing it work.
like i-w i have mine mounted to driver side of radiator. on the bronco i took this tank off of there was a hard plastic pipe with a rubber elbow that goes to the washer side of the tank i would also get this. the washer fluid hose on our trucks is smaller than the hose that fits these tanks but the plastic pipe will allow you to fit the smaller hose to the tank without having to purchase anything else (by way of shoving).
I will do this conversion later with the tanks, My pump stopped working the other day. Is the original pump located on the tank? and can i buy a new pump at most auto stores.
Awesome!!! I've never heard of this!!! I will be doing it for sure!!!
I had to remove my original washer tank when I did the serpentine belt upgrade and used the newer power steering pump because the the pressure line needed to go right where the original washer tank was.
I put one of the universal jobs in the other week. It works, but doesn't hold much, and doesn't sit in the engine compartment too well. I would recommend against them if you're able to avoid it.
