My AC on my 2004 F-150 Lariat has never been cold. I have taken it in 3 times and each time I told them that when it gets over 90° the AC does not work. They said it would blow 38° at the vents with the AC on and recirculate is on. My AC temp meter did not agree. I could never get it to go below 48°.
I started to look at what they said.........38°........AC on and recirculate on. I then started to play with my AC. Guess what? If I leave it on "auto" and set the temp to 60° it will alternate hot and cold and never blows anything below 48° ever.
I decided to turn the AC on in manual mode. Hit the top vent button and then turn fan on 3/4 and hit recirculate. Took about 2-3 miles but was very cold 42°.
Now it looks like I have found something. My auto and the AC do not work well at all when the air temp is north of 90°. Manual mode seems to work fine. Looks like it may have something to do with my auto temp thingy. I will take it back in so they can tell me that nothing is wrong.
I went to the AC shop this morning and no luck. A/C Decided to blow below 40 degrees. It was only 80 degrees this morning. The shop was still very nice to me and didnt charge anything. I explained to them that this was not typical and that I felt that now it was blowing cold. He said to come back in if I could reproduce and they would put it directly in to check it out.
Dad's 2006 F150 has been working just fine in the air conditioning department. Has since day one. Latest experience has been a 6 hour road trip. 97 degree outside temperature. AC set on recirculate would get so cold as to be downright uncomfortable. I set it to pull outside air, and it was still cold, just not meat locker / middle of a blizzard cold. It will get a bit warmer when stopped, but still plenty cold!
Maybe I'm lucky? Maybe most F150's are like this? I dont know. All I know is that this one works great.
On a more general note, I do recommend taking a hose and cleaning off the condensor on a regular basis. I do mine every time I change oil. Dont use a power washer unless you like folding the fins in. It does make a difference!
Was just reading on another post that for 07 one thing ford is doing is updating to a more efficient AC compressor so I must assume they know the old one is not adequate!!! Won't help us any but in the future if you buy another ford should be better AC?????

Where exactly is the condenser?? I thought it was near the radiator but
I can't see it. It is hidden to me. Can you help me?? Thanks.
The condensor is right if front of the radiator looks just like the radiator only thinner, then the tranny oil coolers is in front of that but is down low with 2 tubes coming out the bottom.
