iat and ect voltage
most of the time i can find the info in the forums but this time i need a little help. i have a 1993 4l aerostar. it ran well but was not pulling as well so i checked the intake air temp sensor.when i put a volt meter in line i got about 4 volts. i put a volume control in line and got about 3 volts. when i checked the engine coolant temp. sensor i got the same readings .what i m thinking is that they are no good becouse these volt readings say its about 50 deg when fully warmed up.
am i on the right track? also what would be the temp of the intake air sensor?
thanks brian
disconnect each sensor and measure resistance
good one will measure 25k ohm at 80d F and connected 2.7v dc
at 194d F (normal op. temp) will measure 2.8k ohm and 0.6 v
both IAC and ECT track the same resistance and voltage for same temp.
with sensor disconnected, should measure 5v at wire plug for VREF from ECU
all voltages per Ford +-15%
if you have broadband connection, can dl Aero service cd files from >
www.fordcds.com
Aero is in truck year cd image file
