Save money! Aeroforce gauge instead of 3 gauges!

I just got an Aeroforce Interceptor Scan Gauge! WOW! It is great! It will replace 3 of my IssPro gauges (Trans temp, boost, coolant temp). Prolly put them up for sale on FTE classifieds.

The scan gauge has 19 parameters that you can read from the OBD2 port. No external power needed! Just plugs into the OBD2. It was about $240. So you can save the price of the 3 gauges, and the price of the 3 gauge pillar and it MORE than pays for itself.

It has 2 displays on the gauge and each can be configured to scroll 4 parameters, so you can have it scroll 8 values. Also, you can hook 2 of them up together and scroll 16 values. It reads trouble codes and resets them. It can also record the values while you drive so you can check them later. It does more stuff I haven't even figured out yet!

Here's what it reads:
1. INTAKE AIR 2- Intake Air Temperature taken at the throttle body inlet
2. COOLANT TEMP 2- Engine Coolant Temperature
3. RPM 2- engine Revolutions Per Minute
4. MANIFOLD PSI 1- Manifold Air Pressure (psia) for voltage based MAP sensors
(mid 1990’s trucks).
5. Manifold PSI 2 – Manifold Air Pressure (psia) for frequency based MAP sensors
6. BOOST 1 – Boost Pressure in psig for voltage based MAP
7. BOOST 2 – Boost Pressure in psig for frequency based MAP
8. MILES PER HOUR 2- Miles Per Hour
9. TRANS TEMP 1- Transmission Temperature for 1998 and newer trucks
10. TRANS TEMP 2 – Trans temp derived from the trans temp sensor voltage for 1997
and older trucks.
11. TRANS VOLTS – Transmission temperature sensor raw voltage.
11. RUN TIME MINS- engine run time since last engine start. Can be used as a trip
timer.
12. BATTERY VOLTAGE- Alternator/battery output voltage
13. PULSE WIDTH- injector pulse width in msec.
14. ENGINE OIL TEMP
15. EX. BACK PRESS – Exhaust back pressure
16. ICP DC – Injector Control Pressure Duty Cycle
17. ICP – Injector Control Pressure
18. INJ. TIMING – Injector Timing Deg BTDC
19. CURRENT GEAR – Current Transmission Gear

Let me know if anyone has any questions!

They are neat. I almost bought one but knew I wanted AE also, so I went that way.

There is some benefit to having mechanical gauges, like boost for example. But for monitoring any sensors quickly and easily you can't beat the Scan Gauge.

I would still have to have an EGT gauge. I also like looking at a needle instead of looking at numbers scrolling by. I wouldn't mind having one for some of the functions it does.

Thats pretty cool, wonder why Ford on these trucks did not let the computer read egt's some how, if they got high it could defuel, is there anyway the scan tool can read egt?

Numbers are great but I am with Rick, atleast have an EGT gauge even though you can plug an EGT gauge into your scan gauge.

Yes, they have add on sensor kits for wideband O2 sensors, EGT, etc.:

I'm just keeping my EGT gauge. The scan gauge does not support EGT on Powerstrokes but does on other models.

No, there is no sensor on the 7.3L that will allow you to view any kind of EGT's.

So, it looks like the gauge ( $249 ) plus the EGT probe and amplifier:

Aeroforce Technology Inc | Products - Sensors

at $165 for both = $414 for a single gauge that can provide 2, 4, 8 or 16 values. I'm just thinking out loud here. This is in the range of a 3 gauge kit with a pillar pod. I just happen to be one who doesn't fancy the multi-gauge pod thing and have been looking for mostly digital alternative. DashDaq is way cool but dang expensive. GlowShift has a 3-in-1 for $169:

3 in 1 Multi Diesel Gauge - Boost, Exhaust Temp, Temp Diesel Gauges

Riffraff has the BullyDog Outlook for $356:

Riffraff Diesel: Bully Dog Outlook Monitor

So many choices... I need more coffee.

One of the first things I bought when I got my truck. My favorite purchase so far.

Keep in mind, IIRC, the PCM only moniyors coolant temp on manual trucks. So you need to keep that gauge too.

I am noticing that! The Interceptor lists coolant as a parameter but it is not accurate. I started the truck this morning and the coolant temp parameter said 200.

The Bullydog is cool, lots of bang for the buck. Looks like it comes with the EGT probe, how does it monitor trans temp? Is there any way to mount it?

Hey Canister, what is that gauge you are showing in the pic?
