My Excursion came back from the shop having the CHT (head temp) sensor replaced and now the coolant gauge doesn't work. I changed the sensor, checked the voltage (11 plus) to the sensor and applied a jumper where the gauge reads full hot. Nothing. Still reads full cold when plugged to the sensor.
Any ideas what the volts should be? Any other suggestions are welcome.
Thanks,
John

Hello John, Oscar from Los Angeles CA, just had the same problem with my truck, the temp sensor controlling the instrument gauge is the one sitting on top of the intake manifold, NOT the one on the cylinder head...,
I replaced mine with a crappy AutoZone sensor and it didn't work my temp gauge wouldn't move so I popped the old back on and that did the trick, reason why I was changing it is because my truck was having a rough start with intermittent stalling right after start up, so I replace both sensors the one for the heads and the one for the temp gauge , but like I said it didn't work, so I put the old back on and it started working again I hope this helps maybe you need to get a temp sensor straight from FORD... And by the way I don't know if the problem is fixed yet I will driving the truck this whole week and see what happens...
