Problem with

6 disc changer in 02 F550. I bought this truck today and know nothing about it. when I put the disc in it will load but comes up with trk 1 and then shows seek and then back to trk 1 back and forth a couple of times eventually ejecting the cd . Has anyone ever had this problem and whats the best way to fix. Thanks for any help.

Is this an actual store purchased audio cd? Or something you "burned" at home? That sounds like the same symptoms that I would sometimes get on my OEM cd players after trying to load a "CD-burn gone Bad". Please forgive me for asking... But you are trying different discs?

If that doesn't work then its possible you have an "Eye" that's not looking where its suppose to be. Or potentially dirty.

For...A Last ditch effort you might want to physically unplug the radio for a few mins. Upon "start-up" it should do a quick internal scan and hopefully fix any minor inconsistencies...

Thanks for the reply, Yes I tried different cd,s nothing. I even put a cleaning cd in but no help. Do I have to unplug the player or can I remove a fuse or disconnect the battery.

I often pull the radio to unplug it. I've never tried it any other way to be honest. It works well when it gets hung up in mid-button commands (mashing buttons too quickly)and relieving it of Stuck cds.

If that doesn't work its obviously Dealer time... A well established dealer should have a set of techs on hand that have had some training w/ Ford radios... that way you shouldn't have to worry about sending it out for an "internal" reset of some sort.

p.s....Bethlehem, Ga? Is that the one right outside of the Athens loop? You shouldn't be too far from Atkins Ford/Dodge... those guys seem like they know their stuff..

Yes we are near athens thanks for the help Ill try what you said if it dont work Ill look at going to AKINS dont want to. But sometimes you just got to bit the bullet.
