Hi my name is Sal,i'm a first time owner of this trunk, and am having problems with electrical power to the fuel pump.the trk is a 1986 F150 5.0L EFI so far i have replaced the elec.f/p the f/p relay and the dist.control module.my question is being that this trk is 30+yrs old,is it possible the impact switch is wearing out.this switch don't come cheap,so help oh yeah same question about the EGR Valve.any help i can get will be appreciated very much.
The impact switch never moves, so theoretically it should never wear out. Some people have trouble with them but it's pretty rare. If you think it's giving you trouble, just jump around it temporarily and see if the problem goes away.
The EGR does give problems, and it needs replacement on a regular basis. Some go a long time without replacement but all of them give trouble eventually. It has a sensor on it that tends to wear out also. That will usually give you a trouble code when it fails.
