Tough time to buy filters but disposable dust masks are standard for that sort of work. If you can't find those, I'd consider an expedient mask like a bandana or (what I use as shop vac filter socks) a section of panty hose over say a washcloth or something else breathable. Some folks have luck with HEPA vacuum cleaner bags for corona filters but I've a respirator so I don't bother. Only panty hose legs are used to cover shop vac filters (after which I've never bought another filter in over 30 years) so the rest is left over.
I really like powerful fans for cooling off and air circulation, and if you work in the wind outdoors they can send dust and smoke downrange. I also use them indoors to shift welding smoke.
