In addition to my P/S project, I'm going to add a C-6 to the Big Red Truck ('68 Ranger 360). I know I need the tranny, the torque converter, the shift linkage, the kick down linkage, a cooler, the column and I'll have to shorten the drive shaft and perhaps modify the pedal assembly. Do I need anything else? Is the "flex plate" different from or in addition to the flywheel? Is a different starter required? Ring gear? Bell housing? Should the existing rear cross member work? I really need to get all the
parts together I can up front since I'm driving this thing every day now. The daughter got her license and has taken over a car. I tried to tell her that a new law said she had to wait 'til she was 25, but she didn't buy it.

Thanks in advance,
Dan Blackwell

OK red I hope I remember everything
1- just drop the clutch pedal
2- Find a one piece drive shaft and have the length custon fitted
3- You will need to change to a flexplate, and don't forgrt to remove the pilot bearing
4- The C6 is a one piece tranny, if the bell is round on top it will fit the FE
5-The rear member may have to be moved, just drill new holes and bolt it up.
6- same starter, ring gear is on the flexplate

ps: as long as you are handing you daughter the car keys, her law rules

To add to Jowilkers reply,
Re C6: C6's have integral bellhousing (not separate) you need one for FE engines, there are C6's w/ other bellhousings (smallblock 302,351W,C and the 240-300 six) (and another for 351M,400,429,460) Look at Jowilkers post to identify a FE bell.
Re kickdown: If you can't easily find the right kickdown linkage you need, Lockar makes a retrofit cable kickdown linkage for C6's.
Re Pedals: On my 76 that I converted, I found in the wrecking yard that the brake pedals were the same. The only difference was that a bolt went through the brake pedal instead of the clutch pedal stud.
Re flywheel/Flexplate: Autos use flexplate, Manuals use flywheel. Just make sure that the ringgear pressed onto the outer edge of flexplate is the same diameter (same #of teeth) as the ringear that was on your flywheel. Also use an FE flexplate. There may be some compatibility w/ 460's (I'm not sure of the 460 engine balance) but you wouldn't want to use a 302,5.0,351W,351C flexplate as they are externally balanced with counterweights welded to the flexplate. The 360/390 are internally balanced and don't have this counterweighting (or at least if it does, it's not the same).
The C6 will have a vaccume operated shift modulator that will require a manifold vaccume source.
