Can anyone identify this part? My '72 f100 has an electrical connection from the NP235 right behind the shifter by the new process logo and goes to a contraption on the motor (360 originally - now a 390). This contraption has two vaccume ports that I don't know where they go or why. The motor does not need this part to run good. I asked a guy at a transmition shop and he had no idea!
I have something similar on my '70 Chevy C/10. What I have is a TCS, or transmission controlled spark soleniod. It connects to the 3spd manual tranny. It controls when the vacume advance works by opening or closing the soleniod. It only opens it third gear, allowing engine vacume to go to the advance. It's a couple of wires from the tranny running to a cylinder shaped thing on the intake with two hose fittings on it that runs inline with the vacume advance hose. I just unhooked it a couple of days ago and it runs fine. I wonder if Fords had them too?
