Ignition switch
The Big Red Truck, '68 F-100, won't always keep running after it starts. It takes spells of about a week or two where I have to hold the key between run and start for it to not die. I have to just sit there releasing the key and turning it back up a little until it finally makes contact in the run position. It has never shut off while running.
Anybody run into this and was it the switch or the lock that caused the problem.

Sounds like your switch is on the way out.
Mine used to come unplugged and it would not run, turn and start, but when you released the key it would quit. I would have to reach back, push the plug back together and it would be fine for months....then one day it would do it again. The plug tangs were broke and it does not snap tight anymore.
