Living in a suburb now. Moving into the city this week while our new house is built and old one gets sold. Will be moving to the country when the new house is ready
well i lived all over the east coast in my 20's, but i settled down 4 miles from where i was born. it USED TO BE country. it now is a suburb. not sure when it changed, but it definatly changed in the past 15 years. there used to be a time less then 15 years ago when you could walk across the road.
now, if you don't have a V8 under the hood, you take your life in your hands if you try to pull out onto the road from a side street without a traffic light.
I live in the suburbs. I lived in 3 large cities and grew up in the country. I am smack in the middle of 2 large cities 20 minutes either way. Some times I miss the country living, but I think of what life was like as a kid living 6 miles from town and the next house was 2.5 miles away on a dirt road and I come back to reality.
Thank God I'm a country boy...always have been, always will be. I did live in a small town of about 15K for 3 years, but I don't really count that. Put me down for temporary insanity on that one...
I live in the sprawling metropolis of Kiefer, Ok. population 859. But we're growing. Why, just in the last year we got a new post office, city hall, and a bank. I guess a WalMart's next.
I've done my time in the city, (Cicago 'burbs), small town of 300, town of 20,000, and the country is my place. 2.5 miles to anything is fine by me... I currently live 1 mile from a town of a couple hundred, 5 from a few more than that, 12 from 3000. During the summer, you can't see the neighbors at all with all the trees, works well for me.
