Wink Instrument panel lights fuse blowing

I have an '87 Bronco2 4wd 2.9L 5 spd tranny. It has something that immediately blows the instrument panel lights fuse Are there any suggestions?

Are you talking about fuse 4 or 17?

It says it's the "5A INST PNL LMPS" located on the bottom in between WARN LPS and TURN SIG FLASHER

Thats fuse 17 & it splices to ashtray bulb/rear window defrost control bulb/heat & AC control bulb/instrument illumination/radio illumination.

You said in your other post that the PO botched the job of installing a radio, so that might be where the problem is.

The connector for the radio illumination is near the ignition switch. open that connector & see if a new fuse blows.
Light blue wire with red stripe.

That might be part of your battery drain problem, too.

I installed a new light switch the same day I put in a used turn signal and multi-switch. The fuse hasn't blown since..

Sweet. Glad to hear you got a couple of the issues fixed. NOW... is the battery still draining on you, or did these other repairs fix that as well??
