Mine is also run of the mill F350 4x4, 400/4 speed/ d60's front and rear. The previous owner did tell me it was ordered brand new as a plate glass delivery truck. It had one of those big scaffolding-looking beds on it. Maybe it was ordered with no bed, or some sort of flat bed from the factory? The second owner installed the 1960's wrecker body thats on it now. I'm keeping it a tow truck and am restoring it. I just thought of something else...its a non-smog truck, my other '79(F150 Supercab 4x4) is a smog truck. I just figured the 1 tons did not need to be smogged back then...is that correct? thanks, Mike
Since its showing up on F-250's and F-350's could it have to do with being rated for as an ambulance? Also do the trucks come from the same assembly plant?
Just my 2 cents worth - my crewcab even has 11 digits in VIN: F26HCBJ9302. F250 custom, crewcab, 4x4, 351M, C6, D44/D60, dual tanks, front/rear anti-sway bars, made in CANADA (yea Dennis!! lol). I would like to know what is up with the numbers in front of the letters making 12 digits too!!! Things that make you go HUH. lol
