I bought yet another truck and it has a VIN that Ive never seen before. Maybe someone here could help.
here it is
1F26HNFB4198
I have never seen a number before the frame code. The truck is a 79 F250 Custom 4x4 351M C6 Np205. The truck is rather generic nothing special. The only thing I could think of is that its a late year model and they ran out of consecutive number and added the 1 to start over. Any ideas?
The metal tag on the door and the sticker on the jamb side both say 1F26. I knew this was really strange. I havent found any buck tags yet. Anything else I could let you know to help figure it out?
Okay Guys, I just got off the phone with Ford Research .
Because I am not the owener of these vehcilesd they would release any information to me.
So, that leaves you guys to call yourselves.
I basically told them we have 2 trucks that have 12 digit Vin#'s starting with a numeral and why would that be.
You have to call and ask the same question, only they will look up your Vin# for you and let you know.
The number to call in the United States 1 (800) 392-3673
get thru the dial 1 for english, and 3 for all other inquiries
They will ask you for your 17 digit Vin#
instead of giving them your 12 digit # at this time
ask for a research unit representative because you have a Vin# question for a 79 truck.
Mine is a nothing fancy 79 F250 reg cab custom 4x4 351M C6 D44/D60 3.54 open power steering. Only noteable option I can see is front and rear sway bars but even thats really not a big deal.
Ford Research was closed by the time I got off work but the automated operator said this was available over the internet at www.ownerconnections.com Im going to try that and call again tomorrow.
OK this makes 3.
Dennis,
Could you make a sticky or something to ask anyone who has a number before the frame code to speak up or should I start a new topic? I would like to know how many people have a VIN like this. Maybe its not as weird as I thought
